New Gender Plus Hormone Clinic to Trial in Newcastle

We're expanding access to transgender healthcare, this time heading further north. From 26th October, the Gender Plus Hormone Clinic team will be running a quarterly satellite clinic in Newcastle, offering face to face consultations to patients already accepted onto the hormone pathway.

What you need to know:

  • Starts: Monday 26th October

  • Location: Newcastle city centre, with easy transport links

  • Frequency: Quarterly, beginning as a trial

  • Who it's for: Existing patients already accepted onto the hormone pathway

  • How to book: internal booking link will be shared by the Gender Plus Hormone Clinic team

Nurse consultant Paul Carruthers is director of the Gender Plus Hormone Clinic. He explained: "The decision to open in Newcastle was informed by patient need. Initial appointments are face to face, and we were seeing people travelling to our clinic in Leeds, from as far as Scotland.

"Running a clinic in the North East means we can start closing that gap, both by seeing patients locally and by working alongside other providers already serving the region."

Paul will lead the Newcastle trial, delivering consultations directly to patients at this new location. While the initial trial will only serve Hormone Clinic patients, there may be the opportunity to expand, to include wellbeing support, via the psychosocial arm of our service, if the demand exists.
