The model we have developed at Gender Plus and the Gender Plus Hormone Clinic draws on the expertise of our multidisciplinary team of clinicians, who have extensive experience of working within the NHS gender services. 

  • Dr Aidan Kelly (he/him)

    Dr Aidan Kelly (he/him)

    Director of Gender Plus & Gender Plus Hormone Clinic [Senior Leadership]

    Dr. Kelly is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist based in Dublin and London. With over 9 years of experience in gender services, he has worked with leading NHS gender clinics, including GIDS and Nottingham NCTH, specialising in gender identity assessments and gender-affirming treatments for children and adults.

    Aidan is dedicated to improving access to transgender healthcare. He’s a proud member of the British Association for Gender Identity Specialists (BAGIS) and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH).

  • Dr Claudia Zitz

    Dr Claudia Zitz (they/them)

    Consultant Clinician | Birmingham
    [Senior Leadership]

    A Clinical Psychologist and Systemic Family Psychotherapist, Claudia worked with gender-diverse young people and families in the NHS for 10 years. They have specialist skills in gender assessments, therapeutic exploration and recommending medical interventions when indicated.

    Committed to anti-oppressive practice, they are passionate about working collaboratively with gender diverse people so they can flourish in their lives and relationships. They are registered with the Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC), British Psychological Society (BPS) and are a member of the British Association of Gender Identity Specialists (BAGIS).

  • Nicky Howard

    Nicky Howard (she/her)

    Gender Plus Service Manager
    [Senior Leadership]

    Nicky combines 7 years of NHS management experience across mental health and gender services with a rich multidisciplinary background. She has an academic foundation in Psychology and a Master of Politics & Public Policy.

    Nicky's diverse career spans working as a research assistant studying psychological stress in high-risk cancer populations and as a youth worker supporting children in care. She honed her project and operational management expertise, in the UK, with a local government regulator, a street child charity, Comic Relief, and UNICEF.

    At Gender Plus, Nicky applies her exceptional organisational talents and process-improvement mindset to create efficient, responsive services.

  • Dr. Josh Goulding-Talbot (he/him)

    Senior Clinician | Birmingham

    Josh is an HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist (PYL040020) specialising in gender-affirming care. He holds qualifications from the University of Leicester's Clinical Psychology programme and a Master of Research degree from the University of Birmingham. Since qualifying in 2021, he has focused on supporting gender-diverse young people within the NHS, building on significant experience across general mental health and specialist services. His expertise includes working with young people managing physical health difficulties and applying Foundation Level Systemic Theory to supporting individuals within family contexts.

    Josh's practice is grounded in social justice and compassion, with particular sensitivity toward neurodivergent experiences. He contributes to advancing inclusive care by delivering specialist gender training for Leicester's Clinical Psychology doctoral programme.

  • Sarah Favier (she/her)

    Principal Clinician | Birmingham

    Sarah Favier is a UKCP-registered Systemic Family Psychotherapist (No. 09160818), with over 20 years of NHS experience. She initially trained as a Social Worker before specialising in family therapy in 2005. Her extensive clinical background includes 13 years in Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services and she specialises in working with self-harming youth. From 2015-2021, Sarah served as co-team lead at NHS Gender Identity services in Leeds and Birmingham, where she developed innovative communication tools for young people considering medical interventions.

    Sarah's expertise extends to adult gender services, couples therapy, and multidisciplinary supervision. She has presented at major transgender healthcare conferences and delivers specialist training in supporting gender-diverse youth and their families. As a qualified Systemic Supervisor and Family Therapy Training Tutor, Sarah offers a collaborative, ethical approach that honours each family member's perspective.

  • Dr. Lyndsey 'Igi' Moon (they/them)

    Senior Clinician | London

    Dr. Moon is a HCPC-registered Chartered Counselling Psychologist (PYL 18419) with extensive experience supporting trans+ individuals. As a BPS member they played a pivotal role in establishing the Specialist Gender Register and Committee on Inclusion, Ethics and Social Justice, while serving on multiple boards including the Ethics Committee. As Chair of MOU2 on Conversion Therapy, representing over 750,000 healthcare professionals, Dr. Moon regularly consults with Scottish, Welsh and English governments and the United Nations on LGBTQ+ issues. Their clinical background includes work as a Residential Social Worker with young people, Senior Practitioner in addiction services, and Peripatetic Specialist in NHS Addiction Treatment Centres.

    Dr. Moon's academic career features prestigious ESRC fellowships, senior lecturing positions, and three influential books on queer theory and transgender experiences. They are a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, WPATH member, and recipient of the 2019 GLAAD David Harvey Award for their advocacy work.

  • Dr. Fabiola Neto (she/her)

    Senior Clinician | Dublin

    Dr Neto, an Italian-Brazilian Clinical Psychologist, is a Chartered member of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI n.M8425). She earned her PhD from University College Dublin in 2019, focusing on ADHD assessment and treatment through collaborative research between the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Department and UCD's Centre for Disability Studies. Dr Neto completed clinical training in Brazilian mental health services in 2010.

    She specialises in psychotherapy for adults and young people with moderate to severe mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, OCD, and PTSD. Since April 2022, she has developed expertise in gender assessment and support. As a psychology lecturer and thesis supervisor, she remains engaged in academic activities.

    Dr. Neto is passionate about diversity, equality and inclusion and values working across different cultures and languages.

  • Dr. Kirsty Golden (she/her)

    Senior Clinician | London

    Dr. Kirsty Golden is an HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist (PYL36027) who completed her Doctorate at the University of East London and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Low Intensity CBT from Teesside University.

    Dr. Golden has worked across adult and pediatric mental health settings, supporting individuals with various challenges including mood disorders, anxiety, phobias, self-esteem issues, trauma, OCD, and health-related difficulties, both within and outside of the NHS. Since 2017, she has specialised in working with gender-diverse young people and their families, providing gender assessments for those exploring their gender identity. Her practice includes systemic work with families/carers and collaboration with statutory organisations like CAMHS and schools.

    Dr. Golden's approach is grounded in appreciating difference, social justice, and the power of storytelling.

  • Shon Grant (they/them)

    Principal Clinician | London

    Shon is a UKCP-registered Family and Systemic Psychotherapist with nearly 30 years of experience working with children and families. They hold memberships with the British Association of Gender Identity Specialists (BAGIS) and the Association of Family Therapy (AFT).

    Their clinical expertise spans developmental trauma, anxiety, depression, neurodiversity, self-harm, and abuse. Since joining NHS gender services in 2020, Shon has developed specialist skills in gender assessment and therapeutic exploration, making recommendations for medical interventions, where appropriate. As clinic safeguarding lead, they implemented CQC-commended systems and served as co-regional team lead.

    Professionally committed to social justice and anti-oppressive practice, Shon works in partnership with gender-diverse individuals to support authentic self-expression. They also serve as an Associate Lecturer at the Tavistock & Portman, leading modules on an award-winning training course and developing systemic curriculum.

  • Dr. Rosie Jones (she/her)

    Principal Clinician | Birmingham

    Dr. Rosie Jones is an HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist (PYL32685) and member of the British Association of Gender Identity Specialists (BAGIS). She has nine years of professional experience working with children, young people, and families, with three of those years specifically dedicated to NHS gender services.

    Her clinical background spans health and mental health across community and inpatient settings, with particular expertise supporting neurodivergent young people and those presenting with risk behaviors. Dr. Jones specialises in compassion-focused therapy (CFT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), with advanced training in these approaches.

    Throughout her career, Dr. Jones has prioritised elevating experts by experience through patient groups and involvement initiatives. She currently serves as the Public and Patient Involvement (PPI) Lead at Gender Plus.

  • Dr. Angeline Dharmaindra (she/her)

    Principal Clinician | London

    Dr Dharmaindra is an HCPC and BPS-registered Clinical Psychologist with specialist expertise in gender diversity. She holds degrees from the University of Essex (DClinPsy), King's College London (MSc Mental Health Studies), and a PGDip in CBT from UCL. She is also ADOS-2 certified for autism assessment.

    Since 2007, Dr. Dharmaindra has worked in healthcare settings, specialising in gender services since 2016. She provides expert gender assessments, therapeutic exploration, and evaluations for medical interventions. She contributes to clinical training at the University of Essex and offers consultation to agencies working with gender-diverse youth. Her experience includes supporting young people with anxiety, depression, and self-harm.

    Dr. Dharmaindra's interest in neurodiversity complements her gender-focused practice.

  • Dr. Rosie Sharville (she/her)

    Senior Clinician | London

    Dr. Sharville is an HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist with a Doctorate from the University of East London and an undergraduate degree from Oxford. She has worked in the NHS since 2015, including five years specialising in gender services.

    Her diverse experience spans working with adults and young people in both general (CAMHS, IAPT) and specialist settings (sexual health, gender and severe anxiety). Dr Sharville specialises in gender, relationship, and sexuality diversity, integrating human rights theory, narrative therapy, systemic approaches, and queer theory in her practice.

    She has served as a guest lecturer at the University of East London for five years, teaching on the intersections of gender, sexuality, and human rights. Her doctoral thesis focused on understanding human rights in clinical contexts.

  • Abby Maitland (she/her)

    Principal Clinician | Birmingham

    Abby is a UKCP-registered Family & Systemic Psychotherapist with over 38 years of experience across NHS, local authority, private, and charity settings. She currently works in private practice as a psychotherapist and consultant.

    Abby's career spans therapeutic work with disabled adults and young people with mental health needs, and supporting child abuse survivors. She developed and led specialist services for children with learning disabilities and autism, later directing Tier 3 CAMHS services. In 2021, she moved to North Yorkshire to join the NHS Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) as clinician and consultant lead for the Northern regional team until its closure in March 2024.

    Abby's expertise includes gender assessments, therapeutic exploration, systemic approaches, and recommendations for medical interventions. She is passionate about collaborative work with gender-diverse people, as well as being committed to social justice and reducing health inequalities.

  • Dr. Moja Kljakovic (she/her)

    Senior Clinician and Interim Research Lead | London

    Dr Moja Kljakovic is a BPS and HCPC registered clinical psychologist (no PLY33177) with specialist clinical training in child and adolescent mental health. In addition to her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, she has a PhD in the research area of bullying, in which she has also published academic peer-reviewed research

    Dr Kljakovic has completed specialist training in the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-II) and the Developmental, Dimensional and Diagnostic Interview (3di), allowing her to complete autism assessments in compliance with NICE standards. Since coming to the UK in 2015, Dr Kljakovic has worked in CAMHS and has provided outreach to school settings with a focus on autism. She has also worked in the private sector with adolescents in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

    Dr Kljakovic currently works in the NHS in an adult setting and teaches academically on psychology across the lifespan.

  • Dr. Cliodhna Cork (she/her)

    Senior Clinician | London

    HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist (no PYL041845) Dr Clíodhna Cork completed her doctoral training at the University of East London in 2022. She previously worked in NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), specifically in neurodevelopmental assessment and psychosocial support.

    She currently works in the NHS in maternal mental health services. Dr Cork completed training in the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-II) which allows her to contribute to autism assessments in compliance with NICE standards. She is passionate about social justice and works in a way that acknowledges social and cultural contexts and the intersection of different identities. She strives to create a collaborative therapeutic space that challenges dominant narratives around gender, queerness, and neurodiversity.

    Dr Cork grew up in Ireland, and lived in Bordeaux and Glasgow, before moving to London in 2019.

  • Laura Johnson (she/her)

    Research and Admin Assistant

    Laura is a Psychology graduate continuing her journey into research with Gender Plus. She was a support worker and volunteer at IntoUniversity and Solent Mind where she gained a broad experience of supporting people of all ages with a range of mental and physical health conditions.

    Her passion for queer research was solidified while working on her third year literature review and research project, and she is excited to continue working in this area in her current role.

    She has guest lectured on the topic of Minority Stress Theory in LGBTQ+ populations.

  • Suzanne (she/her)

    Admin Co-ordinator

    Suzanne worked as an assistant in a primary school class for autistic children in Ireland before she began working in healthcare admin in 2016.

    Before joining the NHS Gender Identity Development Service in 2020, she led the administrative team at a busy health clinic. These experiences have fuelled her passion for making healthcare accessible for young people.

Gender Plus Hormone Clinic

  • Paul Carruthers (he/him)

    Consultant Clinician [Senior Leadership]

    Nurse Consultant Paul heads up the Gender Plus Hormone Clinic.

    With 18 years working in NHS paediatric services, he brings a wealth of clinical experience, leadership, and a deep commitment to innovative, person-centred care.

    He was instrumental in leading his team to secure a CQC outstanding rating for the Gender Plus Hormone Clinic from
    England’s independent regulator of health and social care. Paul leads the Gender Plus endocrine pathway, focusing on integrated multidisciplinary care.

    A key member of the NHS GIDS Endocrine team, Paul led the nursing team, conducted assessments, collaborated with mental health colleagues, and oversaw hormone treatments.

    He served as the paediatric endocrinology representative on the NHS England committee responsible for developing the National Gender Identity Development Service. His design of the endocrine nurse-led pathway earned NHS awards for outstanding care and service innovation.

    Paul is a member (and a former council member) of BAGIS and WPATH.

  • Stacey Dover (she/her)

    Stacey Dover (she/her)

    Hormone Clinic Patient Coordinator

    Stacey has been working in healthcare for the past 20 years in various settings, from laser eye clinics, to private dentistry, GP practices and children’s cardiology. She worked for the Gender Identity Development Service’s northern endocrine clinic as their multidisciplinary coordinator for seven years - a role that Stacey was passionate about. She brings this passion to her work with the Gender Plus Hormone Clinic.

  • Tomás Ahern

    Dr Tomás Ahern (he/him)

    Consultant Clinician

    Consultant Endocrinologist, Dr Tomas Ahern, is registered in Ireland with the Medical Council (123720). He trained in Manchester and at St. Columcille's Hospital Loughlinstown. Dr. Ahern has served as Consultant Endocrinologist for the Louth Hospitals since 2016, after working as a Consultant at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester.

    As clinical lead for endocrinology, he established specialist clinics in reproductive endocrinology, metabolic bone disease, and adrenal disease. His research contributions include publications in peer-reviewed international journals on reproductive endocrinology and service optimisation, as well as clinical trials involving steroid hormones and incretin therapies. Dr. Ahern has been treating patients with gender incongruence since 2016 and joined the Gender Plus Hormone Clinic team in Dublin in 2023.

  • Annika Scourse (they/she)

    Hormone Clinic Administrator | Birmingham

    Annika is excited to be a member of the Birmingham GPHC team. As a queer person, they are proud to be involved with supporting access to gender-affirming healthcare. Annika is neurodivergent and cares deeply about maintaining a comfortable, positive environment for neurodiverse patients at GPHC.  Alongside their work in the clinic, Annika volunteers in children's radio, where they regularly lose to 10 year olds in tense games of Uno.

  • Nat Blanquier

    Nat Blanquier (she/her)

    Hormone Clinic Administrator + Research Assistant | Dublin

    Nat has a Master's of Science in Psychology, with diverse experience supporting individuals who experience depression and who are bipolar. Like all of the team here at Gender Plus, Nat is committed to implementing a person-centered and holistic approach throughout her work. She is a proud ally, passionate about transgender and non-binary rights and is committed to advocating for fair and evidence-based gender care.

  • Nicky Warrilow

    Advanced Clinical Nurse Specialist

    Nicky began her nurse training as a registered mental health nurse in 1999 and has since worked in a variety of settings in children and young people's services in both mental health and primary care teams, as well as adult services.

    Prior to joining Gender Plus in May 2024, she worked for four years in gender services. At Gender Plus Nicky is able to utilise her skills in both the initial endocrine assessments and reviews, prescribing and offering psycho social support to people who are on their treatment pathway.

    Nicky is dedicated to ensuring people are treated with kindness, respect and understanding.
